Government asks lawmakers for a new amnesty on tax, customs and traffic-fine debts
The Finance Ministry sent the Legislative Assembly a special, temporary bill that would let taxpayers with pending cases settle up without paying interest, surcharges and, in some cases, fines; the principal owed would still have to be paid, according to Infobae. The law would run from its publication until December 11, 2026, and would cover tax and customs debts, traffic fines and other public-administration fines, except municipal ones. Diario Co Latino reports that it allows installment plans with a first payment of 10% of the debt plus eight monthly payments, and that the Assembly's Finance Committee was due to discuss it this Monday at 10 a.m.
